Event Details

Often treated as a black art by those in the know, understanding your niche and your keywords is vital to your social media strategy, and needn't cost a penny. This workshop will take you through the changing face of search engines, how to maximise your presence online. Also we'll cover what you CAN do to get noticed, and what sort of activities may get you banned. You'll leave with a useful understanding of how to measure and improve your website's success, and why visitors are vanity, conversions are sanity, and content is king.

What the course will cover:

  • The landscape of search: Google & other search engines, directories & portals
  • Using Google Adwords to find your keywords
  • Social search and social media optimisation - guidelines for success
  • Measuring and monitoring - Google Analytics explained
  • Black hat versus white hat - why some SEO consultants can get you banned
  • Creating a presence to create visibility - why a website is not enough

This session is part of Reach Further's certificate in social media and is being run in as part of a 12 workshop series organised and subsidised by QU2, the business incubator at Leeds Metropolitan University.

Workshops can be done as individual workshops, or as a series of 6 half-day workshops, with a second series of six half day workshops, or as a series of six full day events.
